A new milestone has been reached by the Consorcio Constructor M2 Lima in the works for the extension of the Metro Lima as TBM ‘Micaela’ arrived last week at the Puerto del Callao Station.
The arrival of the TBM was welcomed by President Dina Boluarte and the Minister of Transport and Communications, Paola Lazarte, signailing the importance of this final step.
Having already completed more than 3950 meters of excavation where the TBM has reached the Insurgentes (E-04) Station, in Bellavista, ‘Micaela’ has reached the third step of the excavation by arriving at the Puerto del Callao (E-01) Station, finalizing the 1280 meters of excavation that started at the Buenos Aires (E-02) Station.
TBM Micaela has excavated more than a 1000 cubic meters of earth and rock a day and has taken care of the extracted material to free the tunnel, then assembling the concrete ashlars that make up the rings and modeling the final lining of the tunnel.
This metro extension will connect the neighborhoods of Ate Viarte, Santa Anita, El Agustino, San Luis, La Victoria, Cercado de Lima, Breña, Bellavista, Carmen de La Legua and Callao, covering 27 kilometers of streets in just 45 minutes.
Line 2, which will connect to Line 1 and future lines of the Lima Metro, will carry the destinations of over one million users per day, once the entire network of 27 stations is completed, benefiting the 2.5 million people who live along its path.
Being part of these major infrastructural work makes STM proud and confirms STM Conveyor System as a reliable partner and leader in the handling of excavation debris in tunneling works.
