The Naples-Bari High Speed Railway Project is part of the Trans-European Network (TEN), an initiative designed to integrate rail transport networks across the continent, improving connections with Southern Italy.

In the light of this major project, the interconnection of the Southern part of Italy to the rest of the national railway system assumes a crucial role for its development and engagment opportunities withing the national borders.

STM, as a 40 years old born and based company in the heart of the Basilicata region in the South of Italy, is thrilled to be part of the group of companies involved in the excavation activities for the construction of many galleries in both the Orsara-Bovino’s railway extension and the Hirpinia-Orsara‘s one.

The supply will involve different belt conveying systems for the handling of the muck materials generated by the TBM’s excavation activities for the construction of the multiple tunnels.

The contractor will build the Orsara-Bovino section that runs for some 11.8 kilometres and that will mostly develop within a tunnel. This line includes the doubling of the existing historic railway, the construction of the Orsara-Bovino’s Tunnel of about 9,8 kilometers and further more auxiliary projects.

The Hirpinia-Orsara section represents the longest section of the whole Naples-Bari extension; this section will run for more than 28 kilometers and the majority of it will develop in a 27 kilometers tunnel.

This two sections, alongside with the others on-going projects in the South of Italy, will allow all the residents and goods produced in the southern part of Italy to be be included within a majorly integrated railway flow that will most definetely be more efficient.
