The Shafaroud Dam is located at 6 km southwest of Rezvanshahr and 65 km from the provincial capital Rasht on Shafaroud River in Gilan Province, flowing in the Caspian Sea.
The main goal of the Shafaroud Dam construction is to provide water to the cities of Rezvanshahr and Prehsar, supplying water for both agricultural and industrial purposes, and to generate electricity.
The project for the Shafaroud Dam is an RCC dam of approximately 800.000 m3 which aims to generate 7,6 MW of electricity. The dam is 101 meters tall with a lenght of 300 meters.
STM Conveyor system developed for this project has a specific configuration of 6 conveyors divided as follows:
- 5 conveyors installed on the dam body, running completely along the dam body;
- 1 swinger conveyor at the end of the line.
The project is still ongoing as the RCC placement has been divided in 5 main stages. STM Conveyor system will serve the RCC placement operations and will be definitely removed as the dam grows. Only the swinger conveyor will remain and succesively replaced to the next lever in order to continue the RCC placement and the completion of the remaining stages.
