The Torin-Lyon High Speed High Capacity Railway Project is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), an initiative designed to integrate rail transport networks across the continent and, this specific project wants to improve connections between Italy, Australia, France and Switzerland.

The contractor will build the Torin-Lyon Lot 2 which involves two major European country, France and Italy.

The two work sites 6 (La Praz) and 7 (Saint-Martin-de-la-Porte) will create two parallel tunnels for the railway for a total of 46 kilometers, as well as auxiliary tunnels and caverns between the towns of Saint-Martin-de-la-Porte and La Praz on the French side of the border. Excavations will be done using the traditional method and tunnel-boring machines (TBMs) as well.

STM is supporting the construction of two tunnels by supplying its belt conveyor systems for the handling of muck-spoil generated the TBM’s operations.
